Hi Folks,
When wine suppliers talk about vintages, you frequently hear the word "great" tossed around. But rarely do you hear vintages described as the "greatest."
So when someone like
Wine Advocate author
Robert Parker makes that pronouncement, you stand up and listen. Earlier this week via twitter, Parker said he was

back in Bordeaux retasting the 2009 vintage and this is what he tweeted:
"Was in Bordeaux for 12 days tasting and re-tasting the 2009 Bordeaux...After 33 years of doing this, 2009 is the single greatest vintage I have ever tasted."
As consumers, how do we handle this? I would suggest finding '09s you like, and start hording them - many are ready to drink today, and many will reward you over the years. When we are in the midst of securing the "greatest" vintage of Bordeaux in our lifetime, as wine drinkers, we have to take advantage of it. We have been sampling 2009 Bordeaux sporadically - as we get them in -- and this Friday we will feature yet another. We have several '09s in stock with more arriving weekly.
Dogfish Head Noble Rot. Such a charming name for a beer. Dogfish, among the most daring brewmasters on the planet, just released its Noble Rot in very limited quantities.
Noble rot is a beneficial mold that shrivels grapes and concentrates sugars. The rotted grapes are fermented with malts to create a wine styled beer. The beer has a spicy white wine body and a dry, tart finish.
In stock on Friday.
HOLD THIS DATE: March 10, from 2 to 5 p.m., the Vin Bin will hold It's Almost Spring Tasting and Sale. We will feature more than 60 wines, beer, fancy food and spirits, all on sale and just in time for springtime festivities. More details on the way, but if you attended our Grand Tasting in September, you know we can put on a good time.

We couldn't resist. What could be more appropriate in an old firehouse than
vodka in a FIRE EXTINQUISHER?
Firestarter Vodka is a premium, ultra smooth red wheat vodka from Moldova that is triple distilled and filtered. Firestarter has a delicate infusion of honey added during its final distillation phase to deliver the unique silky finish that has received praise from many of the world's vodka experts.
We tried it, we liked it, and it's a bonus that it comes in a nifty canister.
The final holiday weekend of the so-called winter is this weekend with Presidents Day. If you're traveling, consider picking up a Ski Slope Six with Cheese. Packed with a bounty of weekend appropriate wines for any relaxing occasion.
By the way, the Vin Bin is open Sunday and Monday at regular hours.

Friday Night Tasting
Feb. 17, 5 p.m.
2009 Chateau Saint Andre Corbin, St. Georges St. Emilion: Merlot-based Bordeaux, sweet, herb-scented black fruits. Smooth and velvety-textured, approachable now.
2010 Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc: The wine that put New Zealand on the fine wine map. A benchmark. Gooseberries, passion fruit, grapefruit zest and grass with a hint of fresh herbs. Crisp, dry and medium bodied with a good concentration of grapefruit and herb flavors. On SALE $24.99
2010 Mitolo Jester Shiraz: Deep cherry, bright, vibrant, rich fruit. Soft berries, there is mocha and a hint of spice on the nose. On the palate, genuine fruit and subtle tannins support a velvety elongated finish.
2008 Mitolo Jester Cabernet Sauvignon: Bright, lush and juicy, Jester Cabernet Sauvignon shows a full bodied palate and mouth filling richness. 20% of the fruit has been handled in the Amarone manner- this technique of drying fruit adds complexity and fullness and produces soft juicy tannins.
2010 Davis Bynum Chardonnay Russian River Valley: Hugely aromatic, soft and buttery, but not over the top. Crisper fruit and unobtrusive oak. Pear, apple and pineapple come through, great finish with no harsh edges. Tasting begins at 5 p.m. Special pricing on tasting wines.

Ski Slope Six 2012 Order one with cheese!
Ca Furlan Prosecco: A frothy, fruity sparkler lighter in style and suitable for all cuisine.
2010 Hybrid Chardonnay: A pleasant surprise from California's Lodi vineyards. Biodynamically operated vineyards, well balanced and moderate density which will make it work with seafoods, creamy based soups and cheese.
2009 Rene Mure Pinot Gris: Our Alsatian favorite. More mouthfeel then Pinot Grigio, more character then its Italian neighbor, and boffo with Chinese, Sushi or fondue.
2007 JL Chave Mon Coeur Cotes du Rhone: A splendid find - rich earthy, textural red fruits, hefty mouthwatering aromas - bring on that lamb stew.
2009 Hybrid Pinot Noir: The warmer Lodi appellation produces a denser Pinot grape, more ripe red fruits, darker in color, low tannin, able to match lighter fare, or to sip while slowly warming up in the glow of an après-ski fire.
2009 Victor Hugo Zinfandel: Thinking of grilling on the deck of your chalet? This is the wine you'll want. Bramble berry, raspberry jam and spice. This Zin has been a best seller at the Bin for years.
If you choose the cheese, you'll get a half pound of our imported, cave aged Emmantaler. Makes a perfect starter for fondue, or just cube it up and nibble while sipping on any of the wine selections.
Ski Slope Six w/o cheese: $69.99 w/cheese and gourmet cookies: $79.99
At this time, we cannot make substitutions on the package, however, we reserve the right to substitute equal or higher valued wines if some become out of stock.
